Oakville Preschool was announced the winner of the Telstra Countrywide Gold Award for the No 1 Business in the Hawkesbury at the presentation evening held Friday 19th October 2007. Oakville Preschool also won Excellence in Environmental practices award.

Excellence in Environmental Practices Judge's comments: Elizabeth & her team have a well structured environmental program which also involves and educates our future generations.

Telstra Gold Excellence Award Judge's comments: This establishment has shown how a business in a regulated environment can succeed and grow. In January 2008 the Hawkesbury Gazette wrote an article about local preschools. This is what the paper had to say about Oakville Preschool Learning Centre:

Raising infant animals, growing fruit and vegetables with environmental education makes this centre a standout in childcare and the reason this centre has received local, state and industry awards. The centre's long list of achievements including twice winner of Hawkesbury Business Awards Business of the Year, winner of the Environmental Award, Customer Service Award, Corporate Citizen Award and Child Care NSW Most Outstanding Achievement award amongst others, is proof that Oakville Preschool Learning Centre is a cut above.

But possibly the most remarkable feature about this award winning centre is its humane education program. The children are involved with caring for animals from birth.

Owner Elizabeth Sheridan said she originally introduced the humane education program to encourage empathy in the children attending the centre and develop qualities such as kindness, compassion and understanding, motivation to learn and confidence about themselves as learners. The program has been a huge success with families travelling in excess of 30 minutes each way to attend the centre because the benefits to their children have been so great.

November 3rd 2006 - Award Winners

Oakville Preschool won the Corporate Citizen Award for the Hawkesbury Business who gave the most back to our community.

Oakville Preschools consistent support for families in need, local schools and charities as well as organizing and running major fundraising efforts for others was recognized as greatness in the Hawkesbury Business night of nights.
